MEET THE BLOGGER
Sharon McEnearney
After 856 songs and 3054 minutes on air, my radio show, The Music Or The Misery, came to an end at WXVU. As I signed off for the last time, I remember wishing that it didn't have to end.
Music has and always will be been an integral part of my life. It has been in the background of every moment I’ve ever experienced, both good and bad. At the risk of sounding cliché, music has changed my life in every possible way. When I joined the radio station at Villanova, I just thought I’d be signing up to play my favorite songs and maybe someone would listen. But what I got was something more. Through my show, I amassed a collection of playlists for every week I spent in college. I’ll always be able to look back and hear the songs I was listening to at the time. In a way, it helped me me see that music is much more than just sounds and harmonies; it becomes part of who we are.
When my show came to an end, it was distressing to know that I would no longer have my weekly segment playing music from and talking about the bands and artist that inspire me daily. I didn't want to say goodbye to my show, and it has taken a bit of time to realize that I never really have to. I have decided to move my show onto a digital platform where it will serve the same purpose as my show: sharing good music with the world.

As the title of my show/site insinutes says, you have two choices: the music or the misery. It may seem easier to choose the misery, to keep your head down, and go through life accepting things the way they are and never dare to try and make things better. It is my hope that because of my show and now this site as well as through whatever they choose to listen to, people begin to choose the music. They begin to choose the songs that get them through the day, the lines that show them hope, the guitar riffs that fill their heart with joy, the lyrics that speak to you so strongly that you think your heart might burst, and that's what makes all the difference in life.
